The best in Northern Cape hospitality

PLEASE GO TO OUR NEW GANNAGA LODGE WEBSITE:
http://gannagalodge.co.za/

Gannaga Lodge is situated in 20 hectares of its own ground within the Tankwa National Park. It is located in the Roggeveld Karoo, in some of the most spectacular countryside in the Northern Cape, at the summit of the breathtaking Gannaga Pass. The Lodge lies 28 kilometres from Middelpos on the dirt road between there and Ceres. (Middelpos itself is situated on the R354, exactly half way between Sutherland and Calvinia. For some photographs of Middelpos in winter, click here.) For more precise details and map coordinates of Gannaga Lodge, click here and here and to find the Lodge on Google Maps, click here. Gannaga Lodge is the only establishment within the boundaries of the National Park that offers bed and breakfast, half-board and full-board accommodation, as well as restaurant and bar facilities.

The reception building – constructed from local stone retrieved from old farm outbuildings – is air-conditioned and contains a well-stocked bar (with DSTV), spacious lounges (including a library of over 750 books in English and Afrikaans), the dining room and a meeting room suitable for seminars and small conferences. From here, you enjoy glorious views towards Langkloof and over the Gannaga Pass into the Ceres Karoo. And our swimming pool is just a stone's throw away.

The kitchen specialises in traditional local food, using local produce wherever possible (including, of course, Hantam lamb – the best in the world).

Overnight accommodation is in ten comfortable double rooms (all en suite) situated in either the restored Old Farmhouse or the converted Stable Block.

The Tankwa National Park (formerly the Tankwa-Karoo National Park) has recently been greatly extended through the acquisition of land both above and below Gannaga Pass. While the park cannot offer the big five, it can offer small animal, bird and plant life in abundance, as well as two radically different types of Karoo scenery, climate and ecology (above and below Gannaga Pass).

What will the weather be like? You can find the forecast for Gannaga Lodge here.

If you are interested in obtaining further information or arranging a visit, please contact the Managing Director of Gannaga Lodge CC, Johann Visagie.
